Who is Joe A Simpson Jr?

Joe A. Simpson, Jr. is a Front-End Web Developer and Graphic Designer specializing in WordPress solutions. During days he works at a top-five transit agency, fighting the good fight to ease the commute around Los Angeles County.

After a life-threatening heart event and a brief leave of absence, a journey to rediscover the things that nourished and nurtured him led him back to a love of WordPress.

More on Joe's journey back into WordPress

Why have Joe speak at your WordCamp or event?

A seasoned speaker with over 46 public presentations, Joe A Simpson Jr. has given back to Community at WordCamps in Long Beach, Las Vegas, Grand Rapids, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Orange County, Chicago, and as an emcee at US.

An Advanced Toastmaster Silver, he has woven engaging topics for audiences on Accessibility, User Experience/Design, SEO, and contributing to the WordPress Community.

What is Joe's WordPress Origin Story?

In 2010, when Metro’s Lead Developer and CSS goddess both left to pursue other opportunities, Joe inherited a Headway-themed design (sans child theme) and the rest is history ten years later, managing a WordPress blog network consisting of dozen project-specific or transit news sites.

Live Studio: Appearance on The Futur with Chris Do

November 18, 2018

Most Meetups go down like this – show up a few minutes early hoping for snacks (after all, you come over right after work most often), get a comfortable seat with a good view of the night’s presenter. This August night was no different if you have your Meetup 52 FLOORS ABOVE DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, ARE TREATED TO AN EVENING WITH CHRIS DO, and you’re FEATURED PROMINENTLY ON A SEGMENT FOR HIS POPULAR YOUTUBE CHANNEL SHOW! Not to sound all Fan Boy and such but this was (yet again) another example of why the WordPress Community is so cool!

Another 90 Days: Appearance on The Jeff Large Podcast

November 18, 2018

Jeff Large, an entrepreneur and leading voice in Podcasting space and a fellow presenter sat at a table with a beer and over the next 48 hours we had genuine conversations about family, business, toys, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and our connections to WordPress. We connected over the weekend, hung out at one another’s talks, after parties, then went our separate ways. We stayed in touch over media channels – until he called on me to appear on his show, the Jeff Large Podcast, “Cherish Life Every Day”, September 20, 2018.

Twitter Chatter: WordCamp Los Angeles

November 17, 2018

My first exposure to the concept of a WordCamp was here in Los Angeles, my hometown. The location and faces have changed, but the things that make the WordPress Open Source Project such a cool Community experience still remain and burn as strong as ever. Here is some feedback from those in attendance on social media (Twitter and Instagram):

My return to the very windy, Windy City (after 30+ years) also signaled stepping onstage to speak again, this time at my very first WordCamp. Held at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in the West Loop, it felt emotional and satisfying to continue healing and growing back into WordPress. Here is some feedback from those in attendance on social media (Twitter and Instagram):
