Hesitant and apprehensive described my mood as I gingerly ascended in the small elevator, but little did the next two-plus hours would result in a meaningful, lasting relationship. Today, I came full circle appearing on Adam Silver’s KitchensinkWP Podcast to talk about our connection and recent events that caused each of us to discuss race.
At that very first WordPress Meetup, Adam, on the Mount Rushmore of Southern Calfornia’s local WordPress Community, stood in front of a group of us in a muggy, downtown co-working space and called for volunteers for September’s WordCamp Los Angeles. I was on a leave of absence to recover from a heart event and deciding to jump back into WordPress with both feet and this invitation catapulted me into three year run of incredible satisfaction and personal growth.
The world has been turned on its head first, with the coronavirus pandemic, but a perfect storm of stay-at-home orders and the murder of Mr. George Floyd in Minneapolis sparked discussions and changes felt all around the world. This podcast was a result of a desire to discuss feelings.
