Twitter Chatter: WordCamp Los Angeles

Close Your Eyes: Seeing Value in Accessibility

My first exposure to the concept of a WordCamp was here in Los Angeles, my hometown. The location and faces have changed, but the things that make the WordPress Open Source Project such a cool Community experience still remain and burn as strong as ever. Here is some feedback from those in attendance on social media (Twitter and Instagram):

My return to the very windy, Windy City (after 30+ years) also signaled stepping onstage to speak again, this time at my very first WordCamp. Held at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in the West Loop, it felt emotional and satisfying to continue healing and growing back into WordPress. Held in the largest room for the WordCamp, the Beach Room was the gateway to the conference, visible to all attendees from the stairs or lift to the second-floor location (see first Tweet below). Large monitors on all sides display messaging, CART services, and slide visuals making a truly immersive experience for my message of hope and motivation. Laying down the law – WordCamp Chicago

Spotlight: WordCamp Chicago

Recap: WordCamp Chicago, April 28-29, 2018 My WordCamp experience was very different in Chicago. Since I was presenting, my focus Saturday was on being reading, practicing “90 Days to Live” and relaxing so I couldn’t really focus and fully absorb presentations on Saturday. During breaks, I’d walk the city, getting in my ten thousand steps and […]

On Saturday, April 28, I presented my first WordCamp speech about the WordPress Community in sunny yet brisk, Chicago. Walking off stage during my ‘drop the mic’ moment, I took inventory as my emotion-driven adrenaline slowly began to subside. Almost as suddenly, thoughts of how to give back something helpful to future speakers to help […]
